Hinge Side
Use the Side Post as the prepared mounting member for compatible gate hinges and hinge-side hardware.
The Aluminum Side Post is a versatile single-channel structural profile for gate, fence, and railing terminations. It creates a clean mounting surface wherever a gate or panel ends against a block wall, an existing fence, a house, a column, or another properly prepared structure.
For gates, use the Side Post at the hinge side, latch side, or both sides when the opening requires aluminum mounting members. It gives hinges, latches, stops, covers, and other compatible hardware a continuous profile instead of fastening directly to an uneven surrounding surface.
The same profile is ideal for fence panels installed between columns and for short fence panels that do not need a center post. In compatible railing assemblies, it can also be installed horizontally as a top rail for a clean framed edge.
The open channel accepts the Aluminum Post Cover For Channels when the opening needs to be closed, or the Aluminum Post Cover For Glass when the channel must be reduced for suitable 1/4″ panel material. The center cavity accepts compatible 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ steel reinforcement for properly designed base-plate and reinforced mounting applications.
Install the profile at the sides of a gate opening to create a consistent aluminum mounting member for the hinge and latch conditions.
Use the Side Post as the prepared mounting member for compatible gate hinges and hinge-side hardware.
Create a straight, finished receiving side for compatible latches, stops, locks, and strike hardware.
Add aluminum mounting members between masonry columns or walls instead of relying on an uneven unfinished edge.
Finish the opening beside a properly prepared building wall or existing fence with a matching powder-coated profile.
The single-channel geometry works especially well at panel ends and in layouts where the surrounding structure provides the main support points.
Frame aluminum fence panels cleanly between masonry, concrete, steel, or other properly prepared columns.
Use Side Posts at the two panel ends when the engineered span is short enough that no center post is required.
Create a finished termination at the end of a fence run or at a transition into another structure.
Install the profile horizontally as a top rail when it is compatible with the complete railing layout and loading requirements.
Choose the matching channel accessory and internal support method for the gate, fence, glass, or railing application.
Use the Aluminum Post Cover For Channels to finish an unused opening or conceal compatible fasteners inside the channel.
Use the Aluminum Post Cover For Glass to reduce the channel for suitable 1/4″ glass, acrylic, wire mesh, or aluminum sheet.
The center cavity accepts compatible 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ steel tubing when the installation requires an internal reinforcing member.
Pair the selected reinforcement and base plate with a properly designed anchoring method for the supporting surface and project loads.
Included: One Aluminum Side Post in the selected length and powder-coated finish.
Sold separately: Post Cover For Channels, Post Cover For Glass, Side Post Cap, stopper, 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ steel reinforcement, base plate, hinges, latch or lock hardware, screws, anchors, panel material, and installation hardware.
Phone-order lengths: 10′ lengths are available by phone order only. They cannot be purchased online, and shipping charges may apply.
Key profile dimensions for the Alumission single-channel Side Post used in gate, fence, panel, and compatible railing applications.
Measurement note: Dimensions are nominal. Verify the supporting structure, reinforcement, anchoring, hardware, span, and complete assembly requirements before fabrication or installation.
Answers about gate hinge and latch mounting, panels between columns, short fence sections, railing top-rail use, channel covers, 1/4″ panel systems, steel reinforcement, dimensions, ordering, and care.
It is mainly used as a single-channel mounting and finishing profile at gate sides, fence-panel ends, wall-side conditions, and other one-direction terminations.
Yes. It creates a continuous aluminum mounting member for compatible gate hinges and hinge-side hardware when the complete installation is properly anchored and supported.
Yes. It provides a straight finished side for compatible latches, stops, locks, strikes, and receiving hardware.
Yes. One can support the hinge condition and the second can create the finished latch condition when the gate is installed between surrounding structures.
Yes. Side Posts can create aluminum mounting members between masonry walls or columns. Use anchors and reinforcement suitable for the masonry and project loads.
Yes, when the supporting structure is suitable and the post is attached with the correct anchors, reinforcement, clearances, and waterproofing details for that condition.
Yes. It is designed to create clean single-channel panel ends between properly prepared columns or walls.
Yes, when the panel span, height, slat layout, wind exposure, anchoring, and supporting structures allow the section to be built safely without a center post.
Yes. The Side Post creates a finished single-direction termination where the last fence panel ends.
Yes. In compatible designs it can be installed horizontally, including as a framing member or railing top rail.
Yes, when it is part of a complete railing assembly designed for the required span, loading, infill, connections, and local code requirements.
Use the Aluminum Post Cover For Channels to create a clean finished face over an unused compatible channel.
Yes. Compatible screws can be installed inside the channel and then covered with the Aluminum Post Cover For Channels.
Yes. Use the Aluminum Post Cover For Glass to reduce the channel for suitable 1/4″ glass and use the required companion framing profiles for the remaining panel edges.
Suitable 1/4″ acrylic, wire mesh, aluminum sheet, and other compatible panel materials can be used with the correct channel-reducing and framing profiles.
No. The Post Cover For Channels closes or finishes the open channel. The Post Cover For Glass reduces the opening for compatible 1/4″ panel material.
The center cavity accepts compatible 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ steel tubing for installations that require internal reinforcement.
Yes. A compatible steel reinforcement member can connect the Side Post to a properly designed base plate and anchoring system.
No. Steel reinforcement, the base plate, anchors, and related installation hardware are selected and sold separately.
