What are these #12 × 1″ self-drilling screws used for?

They primarily fasten Alumission aluminum posts to the 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ steel reinforcement tube sleeved inside the post.

Can I use these screws with an Alumission base plate?

Yes. Use them to secure the aluminum post to the square steel tube when that tube is attached to a compatible base plate.

Can they be used without a base plate?

Yes. They can secure the aluminum post to the 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ steel tube whether the tube is used alone or with a compatible base plate.

Are they for aluminum-to-steel fastening?

Yes. They are designed for fastening an Alumission aluminum post wall to a compatible internal steel reinforcement tube.

What driver size do I need?

Use a 5/16″ nut driver or socket for the external hex washer head.

Do these screws require a pilot hole?

The point self-drills through compatible aluminum and steel and may eliminate a separate pilot hole. Material thickness, coatings, tool speed, and job conditions can still make pre-drilling appropriate.

What material are the screws made from?

They are made from 410 stainless steel for self-drilling hardness and exterior corrosion resistance.

How many screws are included?

Each package contains 50 screws.

How tight should they be installed?

Tighten until the connection is secure and the washer head is seated. Avoid overtightening, which can strip the aluminum or damage the connection.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS & INSTALLATION

Build a strong, clean Alumission post installation with #12 × 1″ stainless steel self-drilling screws designed for fastening aluminum profiles to internal steel reinforcement. The self-drilling point is made to cut through compatible aluminum and steel, helping reduce separate pilot-hole steps when installation conditions permit. The external hex washer head provides positive driver engagement and a broad bearing surface.

These screws are primarily used when an Alumission aluminum post is sleeved over 1-1/4″ × 1-1/4″ steel tubing. They secure the aluminum post to the steel core whether the tube is used as reinforcement by itself or as part of a compatible base-plate installation.

Made from 410 stainless steel, these fasteners combine the hardness needed for a self-drilling point with corrosion resistance for exterior fence and gate projects. A 5/16″ nut driver or socket provides controlled installation.
