START WITH YOUR ENTRANCE
A gate has to look right—and open right.
Start with how you use the opening. A side yard needs a comfortable route for people, bins and bikes. A driveway needs clearance for vehicles and for the gate itself to move. Then choose the slat pattern, finish and hardware that bring the entrance together.
01 / WALK-THROUGH ACCESS
Pedestrian & side gates
A single swing aluminum gate suits side yards, garden paths and front walkways. Check the clear walking width, hinge side, latch position and space for the leaf to open.
Kit range: maximum opening widths of 4′, 5′ or 6′, with 4′, 5′ or 6′ heights. These are fitting limits for a cut-to-fit kit.
02 / A TWO-LEAF ENTRANCE
Double swing driveway gates
Two leaves meet in the middle for a balanced driveway entrance. Each leaf needs a clear swing path; plan parked-car positions, ground clearance and the center meeting point.
Kit range: listed widths of 7′, 9′, 11′ or 13′ and heights of 4′, 5′ or 6′. Confirm sizing and installation clearances on the product page.
03 / SIDEWAYS MOVEMENT
Sliding driveway gates
A sliding gate moves beside the driveway instead of swinging into it. It needs a clear runback area along the boundary and a suitable track path.
Kit range: openings up to 12′, 16′ or 20′ wide at 4′, 5′ or 6′ high. Alumission’s kit is a wheeled, track-guided system; allow for the full gate length and tail.
FIND YOUR SIGNATURE STYLE
Five modern aluminum gate styles. Your choice of entrance.
These five named designs are available across the single swing, double swing and sliding gate kit collections. Choose a photo to explore projects filtered by that style and gate categories. Project galleries may include custom details and matching fence sections.
PRIVACY-FOCUSED
New York style
Close-set 5.5″ slats create a calm, solid-looking entrance. Choose this aluminum privacy gate design when screening a side yard or driveway matters most. Allow for the installation gaps around the gate frame.
BROAD HORIZONTAL LINES
Los Angeles style
Wide 5.5″ slats with 1/2″ gaps give a modern aluminum gate a clean, evenly spaced rhythm. A good starting point for a semi-private side entrance or a coordinated driveway and pedestrian gate.
SLIM & OPEN
San Francisco style
Narrow 1″ slats create a finer horizontal pattern with more visibility through the gate. Consider this style for a garden entry or walkway where an open appearance matters more than visual screening.
A DISTINCTIVE UPPER BAND
Dallas style
Broad lower slats and narrow upper accents create a framed entrance with a lighter-looking top. The pattern gives double swing driveway gates a clear focal point while coordinating with a smaller walk-through gate.
MIXED-WIDTH RHYTHM
Miami style
Broad 5.5″ slats and slim 1″ accents repeat through the gate for a more varied architectural look. Compare the pattern at your planned gate height and across both leaves of a double swing entrance.

PRIVACY IS PART OF THE DESIGN
How much do you want to see through your gate?
For a more closed appearance: start with New York’s close-set broad slats. It is the privacy-focused choice in this collection, although perimeter and operating clearances remain part of a working gate.
For semi-privacy: compare Los Angeles, Dallas and Miami. Slat spacing lets light through and changes what is visible as you move past the entrance.
For a lighter, open look: explore San Francisco’s slim slats. Check real photos from both sides of an entrance before deciding.
Privacy also depends on gate height, viewing angle and the surrounding layout. For an exposed or unusually wide opening, ask our team to review the proposed configuration.
COLOR CHANGES THE WHOLE ENTRANCE
Choose an aluminum gate color
Bring your gate finish into the same conversation as your front door, window frames and exterior walls. Explore gate projects by color, or use the white swatch to view kit color options. Screen colors are illustrative; confirm the finish and availability for your selected kit.
Love the warmth of wood?
Wood is also a listed finish in the gate kit collections. It is a decorative wood-look finish on aluminum, not a timber gate. The sliding kit pairs wood-look slats with a black frame. Review the selected product’s finish images and configuration before ordering.
MAKE IT YOUR OWN
Custom aluminum gate designs
A standard kit is a starting point for a defined style and size range. A custom gate starts with your opening, a reference photo and the way you want to use the entrance.
Ask about a different slat arrangement, a combination of finishes, or coordinating a driveway gate with a separate pedestrian gate. Our project gallery shows what customers and installers have created with Alumission components.
Share the opening width and desired height, photos of the posts or walls, your preferred swing or slide direction, and any automation plans. Our team can help confirm the components and feasibility for your design.
PLAN BEFORE YOU ORDER
From a gate design idea to the right kit
1. Measure the opening
Record the finished opening width and desired height. Note existing posts, walls, changes in ground level and where the gate will sit. Kit dimensions are not a substitute for the installation clearances in the guide.
2. Plan how it moves
Check the full swing arc or the complete sliding runback. Allow for the handle, hinges, latch and stops. A driveway on a slope deserves an installation review before you settle on a gate type.
3. Finish the details
Choose the style and color, then review the kit’s included components and required hardware. Plan matching side panels and any lock or access-control equipment as part of the same entrance.
These are assembly kits. Components are supplied for cutting, fitting and assembly; the gates are not delivered as finished, installed leaves. Read the aluminum gate installation guide and the selected product details before ordering.
YOUR GATE QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Aluminum gate design FAQs
What are the main aluminum gate design options?
Choose the gate’s operation first: single swing for a pedestrian or side entrance, double swing for a two-leaf entrance, or sliding for sideways movement. Then compare New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and Miami slat patterns, followed by color and hardware.
Which aluminum gate design offers the most privacy?
New York is the most privacy-focused of the five standard styles because it uses close-set broad slats. A working gate still needs clearances at its perimeter. Height, viewing angle and the installation affect the amount of screening.
What is the difference between a pedestrian gate and a driveway gate?
A pedestrian gate provides walk-through access to a path, garden or side yard. A driveway gate serves vehicle access and typically requires a larger opening, planned swing or sliding clearance, and hardware appropriate to the completed gate. Choose the kit for the opening and use.
Should I choose a sliding or double swing driveway gate?
Choose based on available space. Double swing gates need clear arcs for both leaves. Sliding gates need an unobstructed runback beside the opening and a suitable track path. Check ground levels, parked-car positions and the installation guide before deciding.
Can I match my gate to my aluminum fence?
Yes. Coordinate the named style, finish and height with matching panels, then plan the slat alignment across the entrance. Gate frames and operating gaps will remain visible. Explore our aluminum fence designs guide for the adjoining boundary.
Can I create a custom style instead of choosing a standard kit?
Yes—contact Alumission with your dimensions, site photos and design reference. Custom arrangements may require different components or project-specific planning. Gallery examples are inspiration; they do not mean every detail is included in a standard kit.
Are the gate kits preassembled?
No. Alumission gate kits are supplied as components for cutting, fitting and assembly. Confirm the size limits, installation method, included parts and separate hardware on the selected product page.
Do the sliding gate kits include a motor?
No. The sliding kits can be planned for manual operation or a compatible operator, but the motor, drive chain, controls, power supply and safety sensors are not included. Have a qualified gate-automation installer review the complete setup. Check the product’s hardware selection separately.
What determines the price of an aluminum gate?
The kit type, selected catalog size, finish and hardware affect the product price. Posts, locks, automation, site preparation and installation may add costs. Select the configuration on the product page for current pricing; contact our team for a custom design.
