DESIGNED AROUND YOUR SPACE
An aluminum horizontal fence uses slats arranged side to side between supporting posts. Wide profiles create broad, calm lines; narrow profiles add detail. The spacing between those slats determines how open or visually private the fence feels.
Alumission combines aluminum slats, posts, covers, and coordinating components so you can plan a complete fence and gate design. The same visual language can continue across a yard, a side entrance, or a suitable existing wall.

A full-privacy layout places slats closely together for a more continuous visual screen. A semi-private layout leaves deliberate gaps for light, airflow, and outward visibility. Consider the view from both sides, especially at entrances and neighboring windows.
For custom work, the 5.5-inch slat can be used with no gap or selected spacing. A narrow reveal creates a subtle shadow line; a larger gap makes the pattern more open. Use the selected kit’s specified arrangement when ordering a named style.
Match the slat pattern and finish across fixed panels and entrances. Decide where pedestrian and driveway access will go before dividing the fence into sections, and leave room for the gate’s movement.

FROM INSPIRATION TO A MATERIAL LIST
A successful horizontal slat fence starts with a complete layout. Mark the ends, corners, gate openings, changes in grade, and any existing walls before selecting products.
Options reflect the current featured product listings. Confirm variation availability, actual dimensions, and kit contents on the product page. A listed overall kit length is not an unsupported panel span.
A black horizontal aluminum fence gives plants and light-colored masonry a strong outline. White creates a brighter boundary, while bronze and gray tones can coordinate with windows, roofing, and hardscape. Wood-look brings a warmer appearance with aluminum slats.
Review real project photos alongside product images. Finish appearance changes with lighting and screens, so discuss your finish choice before a large order.
The mounting method should suit the supporting structure. In-ground work needs an appropriate footing plan; surface-mounted posts need suitable concrete or another verified structural substrate. Existing columns require compatible fixings and sound support.
For an existing opening, consider New York between-columns kits. Adding height above a wall requires assessment of the wall and fixings; a wall topper is not automatically suitable for every wall.
CHOOSE HOW TO BUY
Best when you have chosen an Alumission style and want to select a coordinated configuration. Pick the finish, height, listed run length, and mounting option, then check the supplied components against your layout.
Browse aluminum horizontal fence kits →Useful for a custom pattern, replacement components, or a layout being planned by an experienced installer. Specify slats, posts, spacers, covers, caps, brackets, reinforcement where required, and fasteners as a complete system.
Shop profiles, spacers and hardware →The total depends on the style, fence height and length, finish, gates, hardware, mounting method, delivery, and installation work. Corners, slopes, demolition, and existing masonry can change the scope. A low per-foot figure is not useful if it leaves out posts, gates, or site preparation.

COMPARE THE MATERIAL
| Consideration | Aluminum slat system | Wood horizontal fence |
|---|---|---|
| Appearance | Consistent profiles and powder-coated colors; some products offer wood-look finishes. | Natural grain and variation; appearance depends on timber and finish. |
| Routine care | Clean the finish and inspect hardware, supports, and gate alignment. | Care can include refinishing and replacing boards affected by weather or decay. |
| Moisture & movement | Aluminum slats do not rot. Support, thermal movement, and connections still matter. | Timber can change dimension with moisture; detailing and species selection matter. |
| Privacy | Set by the specified slat pattern and gaps. | Set by board layout, gaps, and changes as the wood weathers. |
| Price | Compare current kit pricing with the full installed scope. | Compare timber grade, framing, labor, finish, and ongoing care. |
Some “aluminum horizontal fence” products use aluminum posts with wood infill. Alumission’s featured systems use aluminum slats; check material descriptions when comparing quotes.
BEFORE YOU ORDER
It is a fence with aluminum slats running horizontally between supporting posts or within a compatible frame. Slat widths, gaps, finish, and gate design create the overall appearance. Alumission offers named fence styles and individual profiles for custom layouts.
Yes. Horizontal slat fencing is a popular modern aluminum fence design because of its clean lines and repeated proportions. Modern describes the appearance; horizontal describes the slat orientation. Modern aluminum fencing can also use vertical or mixed layouts.
New York Style uses closely stacked slats for a more continuous visual screen. Los Angeles, Dallas, Miami, and San Francisco create different spaced or mixed-width patterns. Review the selected configuration and consider views from different angles.
Use the specified arrangement for a named kit. Custom designs can use no gap or selected spacers depending on the profile, privacy goal, and applicable requirements. Do not apply wood-board expansion-gap advice to an aluminum system.
DIY assembly may be suitable if you can measure accurately, cut the components, and complete the required support and mounting work. Read the specific kit instructions first. Slopes, tall sections, unfamiliar substrates, and complex gates may benefit from an experienced installer.
Plan for assembly and possible field cutting with the Alumission kits featured here. Check the exact product description and included components before ordering; do not assume that a fence kit arrives as a finished panel.
A sloped site needs a planned layout, such as stepped sections where appropriate for the system. Do not assume standard panels can rack to any angle or that one post spacing works everywhere. Send site measurements and photos for guidance.
Aluminum does not develop the red rust associated with iron and steel. Powder-coated finishes still benefit from appropriate cleaning and care. Steel reinforcement and other hardware may be part of the installation and need their own inspection and maintenance.
Orientation alone does not determine the price. Compare the same material, height, length, profile quantities, posts, gates, finish, and installation scope. Current product selections or a complete project quote provide a more useful answer than a generic lumber price.
Yes. Alumission offers coordinating gate designs and fixed panels. Confirm the style, finish, dimensions, frame requirements, and hardware compatibility so the entrance works with the fence layout.
Do not assume a standard horizontal fence meets pool-barrier requirements. Openings, climbability, height, gates, and latches must suit the applicable requirements and approved layout. Confirm suitability before choosing or ordering a system.
Send your ZIP code, approximate total fence length, desired height, preferred style and finish, gate opening sizes, and whether installation is needed. Mention slopes or existing walls. A simple sketch helps the team understand the layout.
